board schedule and prc site

hey folks!

sa dami ng nagtatanong kung kelan ang board (at dahil hindi ko alam dati ang sagot), hinanap ko ng maigi ang website ng prc. ewan ko lang kung nakatsamba ako ngayon, most of the time kasi either down ang site nila or mali ang link na nakalagay sa google, pero finally na access ko rin!

schedule of the architectural board for june is june 29, 30, and july 2. that's a thursday, friday, and sunday. deadline for application is june 9, which is a friday (regional applications must be in even earlier, by may 30).

naku, ayan, even as i type this, down na naman ang site nila. gosh. gobyerno talaga, wala akong masabi. so wag kayong magtaka kung hindi nyo ma access.

anyway, in case you get lucky, the url of the prc website is http://www.prc.gov.ph/.

i'll post the rest of the instructions for applications and the process soon. stay tuned! :)

Resources: some laws online

In case you guys don't have copies of the various codes we need to study for Professional Practice and Building Laws yet, here are some sites that may be useful:

PD 223 (PRC) - http://www.tanggol.org/environmental_laws/PD223.html
RA 6541 (NBC) - http://www.chanrobles.com/republicactno6541.htm

I'll add more soon.

Also, Joyce sent me a file with various buildings in Makati and their respective architects; will just see if I can add some more before posting it.

on my review table today

I started my (second) review process by drawing up a schedule of topics to study every week. Syempre, since wala pa akong momentum ngayon at tinatamad tamad pa ako, ang haba haba ng time na inallocate ko for my first few topics and pinagsama-sama ko pa silang lahat. To wit:

Topics / Schedule
Professional Practice / Feb Week 1 - Week 2
Building Laws / Feb Week 2 - Week 4
Architectural History / Feb Week 1 - Week 4
Architectural Design Theory / Feb Week 3 - Week 4
Building Technology / Mar Week 1 - Week 3
Structural Design / Mar Week 3 - Week 4
Plumbing & Sanitary Systems / Apr Week 1 - Week 2
Mechanical & Electrical Systems / Apr Week 3 - Week 4
Site Planning & Urban Design / May Week 1 - Week 2
Tropical Design / May Week 1 - Week 2

Those who are taking formal review classes will have their own schedule, based on their classes, which from experience, I realize they SHOULD TRY TO keep up with. Pag naiwanan ka na, kahit ano pang sabihin mo na magcacatch up ka, haaaay, iron will ang kelangan mo.
Lakas ng loob ko magsalita, since based on my schedule, I should be just about finishing Building Laws, History, and Design. Ang totoo, nagsisimula pa lang ako sa Professional Practice. :) Hopefully my pace will pick up, and SOON!

So I have on my review table a bunch of condensed copies of laws: PD 223, RA 545, RA 9266, the UAP Documents, and my college notes from Arch 57, 58, and 59. What I'm doing with them (or rather, NOT doing with them) is another story. :D

anyone up for a support group?

Hey arki friends! Ano, lapit na mag board? Nag rereview na ba kayo? Mahusay. Ako hindi pa, hehehe. Ang inaatupag ko ay racket at kung anu-anong kalokohan. :)
Strangely, hindi pa ako nagpapanic. Maybe it's because this is the second review cycle I've gone through (dinuwag ako mag board nung January, hahahaha), and maybe it's because I don't have enough good sense to start worrying yet. But I figure I won't gain anything by panicking, so I refuse to.
Anyway, since my work takes me online most of the time, and since I can never seem to pull together a study group with friends (who live halfway across the Metro), I thought of putting up a blog for fellow reviewers. The point being, we could probably all use a support group and a concentrated resource: people to ask about the requirements, people to explain the difference between a vent stack and a stack vent, people who might want to tag along when someone needs to go to the PRC, that sort of thing. Saka occasionally, people to provide comic relief kapag gusto mo nang maloka sa kakabasa ng Fletcher.
I'm still kind of new to this online shit, but I know multiple writers can post to a blog, so if you want to add main posts, we can work that out. Otherwise, I think you can post comments without having to log in. People who know what they're doing (Cocoy...) can help out if they have the time.
Ayan po! Yan ang aking brilliant way of making myself feel less guilty when I goof off on the internet, hahaha. Come goof off with me. You might actually learn something. :)
